CHARITY BEER FESTIVAL – UPDATE (May 2013)

Considering the weather the numbers attending on Friday and Saturday were much appreciated. Lyrical Lottery performed superbly once again and I hope they got as many people telling them how good they are as told me. The pig roast was so tasty and many thanks to the professional caterers who volunteered their services to carve and serve our hog.

The main aims of the weekend were to serve great beer and cider (check) for those attending to enjoy themselves in a convivial and relaxing atmosphere (check) to promote The Boat Inn to perspective customers as we have many regulars who come to the pub just once, twice, six times etc a year after all once a year is regular because without all of our friends within a (for a pub) wide geographic area this pub would not survive. And finally and most importantly to raise monies for a couple of chosen charities.

This Festival raised a total of £1,300.00 for our two charities, good drinking everybody! £800 will be going to Milestones Special School in Longlevens (because they hosted the Pig Roast here which made a profit of £250) and £500 will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

Thank you to all who attended for your support and I hope we see you again around late September / early October for our next Charity Beer and Cider Festival. Cheers.

October 2012
Another £1,000 raised for local Charities with £500 each for The Village Minibus and the Air Ambulance, considering the appalling weather over the weekend this was a stunning effort and much thanks goes to all who braved the wet and the chill and all the volunteers. The band were superb on Friday evening, very professional and we will have them back next Summer when hopefully it will be a dry evening. The belly dancers went down very well indeed on Sunday afternoon, lovely ladies they were too.

January 2008

Thankfully this time the floods have passed us by!

The river Severn flooded farmland surrounding The Boat Inn but inside the floodbank we stayed nice and dry! Here’s a link through to a piece BBC Points West broadcast about us and the floods on Friday, 18th January 2008.

July 2007

Like most other homes and businesses along the banks of the river Severn we were effected by the floods in July 2007 and were closed for 4 months.

Thanks to Ian Spencer builders and all the customers who helped get us up and running again.

BBC Points West recently featured us in a piece about the smoking ban in England. Click through the link below to see the story online at bbc.co.uk.
